West Essex High School Ranks 944 in Nation, Says Newsweek
The regional high school makes the nationwide list for the first time.
West Essex Regional High School was ranked among the top 1,000 best high schools in the country, according to Newsweek and The Daily Beast.
The 2013 America's Best High School rankings placed the regional high school at 944. The high school did not make the list in either 2012 or 2011.
James Caldwell High School was not mention in the most recent rankings nor in any of the previous years.

The rankings were based on a multitude of factors, including graduation rate, college acceptance rate and standardized test scores, among other things.
The publication gave West Essex High School an overall score of 3.04. The top school in the country, Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky, received a 4.84.

West Essex High School reportedly has a 97 percent graduation rate and an average student SAT score of 1573. Students averaged 3.6 in AP scores. The report also found 3 percent of the school's students are receiving subsidized lunch.
Nearby, Verona High School was 718; Glen Ridge High School was ranked 836 and Millburn High School 69.
Also in Essex County:Nutley High School ranked 1207; Columbia High School (South Orange-Maplewood School district) ranked 1,286 and West Orange High School was 1,706.
Montclair, Cedar Grove and Caldwell did not participate in the rankings.
