West Essex Lacrosse Coach Inducted into NJ Lacrosse Hall of Fame
Jill Cosse was inducted at the 18th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
West Essex Athletic Director Damion Macioci announced lacrosse coach Jill Cosse was inducted into the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Cosse was inducted during the 18th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, held on Feb. 7. Cosse has led West Essex lacrosse and field hockey since 1997, amassing a combined record of 617-71-14. During her tenure as head coach, Cosse has won nine Essex County Championships, five conference championships, five North A Group Championships and three Tournament of Champions. In 2002, Cosse was ranked No. 8 in the nation by U.S. Lacrosse Magazine.
Cosse began her coaching career as the inaugural head coach of women’s lacrosse at Kean University from 1995-1997. Cosse was named Coach of the Year by The Star-Ledger in 2002, the NJSIAA/NFHS in 2005 and the National Federation of State High School Coaches Northeast in 2005-06.

Prior to her coaching career, Cosse was a decorated collegiate athlete at The College of New Jersey, earning eight varsity letters in field hockey and women’s lacrosse. She was a part of a team that won three consecutive national championships in lacrosse from 1991 to 1993.
In addition to coaching lacrosse and field hockey, Cosse is a health and physical education teacher at West Essex High School. She resides in North Caldwell with her husband Anthony and two daughters.
