West Essex Middle School Names Students Of The Month

West Essex Middle School has announced its students of the month. 

Every month, West Essex Middle School selects  two students from each grade to be recognized and honored as the students of the month. For November, the school selected as its students of the month seventh-graders Sonya Shah and Nicholas Petrarca, and eighth-graders Lauren Moskal and Daniel Shiffman.

To be selected for the award, the middle school staff has decided to base candidates and selections on a review of the “whole” student not just the student with the best grades. Character traits such as honesty, perseverance, responsibility, integrity and leadership as well as a student’s academic qualities are included in selecting students. 

Honored students will have their pictures displayed in the middle school display case outside of the main office and on the middle school website. 

Honorees are also recognized during the morning announcements and receive a certificate recognizing their accomplishment, a “Student of the Month” locker magnet and a $5 student store gift card.

Sonya is a lovely young lady who is always prepared and ready to go. She is kind to her peers and offers her assistance often. Sonya is a diligent student who is dedicated to reaching her potential. She is a member of the Art Club and the Yearbook Club and lives in Roseland.

Nick is an extremely diligent student who always puts forth his very best effort. He works exceptionally well with his peers, and he is willing to help someone else if they have a problem. Most of all, Nick is polite and respectful to everyone. Nick, a resident of Roseland, plays the baritone sax in the middle school jazz and concert bands. He is an avid fencer.

Lauren is a very cooperative young lady who is always helpful to others. She is motivated and works to her potential. Lauren, a resident of Fairfield, is also an excellent role model for other students. She plays the flute in the concert band. Lauren also plays on the middle school field hockey team and recreational softball.

Daniel is a diligent young man who is dedicated to being the best he can be. He works to his potential and is helpful to others. Daniel, a resident of North Caldwell, plays soccer for the West Essex Red Bulls, a travel club soccer team, and the West Essex Middle School Soccer Team.
