West Essex Middle School seventh graders toured the middle school, found and opened their lockers and followed their new schedules at the Seventh Grade Orientation on August 28. It was a day to stock up on West Essex clothing, make new friends and catch up with old friends and most importantly, it was a day to relieve the anxiety about middle school.

“We were thrilled to have our incoming seventh grade students with us, and I believe the Orientation served to quell the nerves that the students naturally have in coming to school,” said Middle School Principal Vee Popat. “The students enjoyed spending time at their lockers, learning the routine of their daily schedule, and shopping at our school store. It was most certainly time well spent!”

Trish Sedicino said she was pleased that West Essex Middle School offered an orientation program for new seventh graders, including her son Dom, a seventh grader from Fairfield.

“It relieves a lot of anxiety for them before the first day of school,” Mrs. Sedicino said.

“It helps you get more organized,” noted Billy Travisano, a seventh grader from Fairfield.

Hannah Bonaguide of Roseland smiled after decorating her locker and filling it with all of her notebooks and binders. “I think this is going to be a good year!”
