West Essex's Perrotti Stars in Championships' 1st Round
Two others will compete in wrestlebacks on Saturday; Caldwell's duo falls out of tournament.
West Essex's Anthony Perrotti advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic City state wrestling championships on Friday, defeating Dom Ruggierrio of Timber Creek by major decision, 18-2, in the pre-quarterfinals.
Perrotti had a bye in the preliminary round, and wrestles again on Saturday.
Advancing to Saturday also, but in wrestlebacks, are West Essex's Frank Marotti and Paul Cafone. Marotti (152) will wrestle after falling to Montville’s Mike Intile, 8-3, in the pre-quarterfinals. Marotti had a bye in the preliminary round.

Cafone (171) makes it to wrestlebacks after defeating Alex Gong of Absegami, 8-3, in the preliminary round. He fell to Vic Pozsonyi, 6-5, in the pre-quarterfinals.
Falling out of the tournament for West Essex are Carlo Zazzara, Mike Marotti and Jimmy Ciampi. Zazzara (112) fell in the preliminary round to Max Rogers of Delbarton, 7-5. Marotti (119) fell to Joe Giaccio of Cranford, 12-4, and Ciampi (125) fell to Nick Liguori of Raritan, 9-8.

Two Caldwell wrestlers also were knocked out of the tournament on Friday night.
In the preliminaries, Matthew Bader (heavyweight) fell to Joseph Nolan, losing by pin at 2:17, and Jason Kratsch (145) lost to Montville’s Parker Meytrott, 6-3.
