What Does Grass Feel Like? NJ Dog Now Knows – After Years Of Cage Life
"Niko was used for breeding his whole life at a puppy mill, never experiencing the grass under his paws or just being outside in the sun."
CALDWELL, NJ — For a decade, Niko the dog didn’t know what it was like to feel grass under his paws. But things are looking brighter these days for the now-adoptable pooch, according to a nonprofit rescue group based in Caldwell.
Here’s what Rescue Haven Foundation recently had to say about the 10-year-old poodle:
“Niko was used for breeding his whole life at a puppy mill, kept in a cage for 10 years, never experiencing the grass under his paws or just being outside in the sunlight. But once he reached the loving arms of his foster mom, it all began to change. Niko is loving his new life: he gets to play with his foster brothers and sister, run in the yard, lay in the sun and absolutely loves his spa days. He is treated like a king and loves earning his treats! He is really a sweet boy and is building his confidence every day. Although learning to walk on a leash was challenging for him, once his foster brother helped show him, he is mastering it. He would do best in a home with another dog and a fenced yard for playtime. He would love a family to call his own, if you want to find out more about him, go to rescuehaven.org.”
