CALDWELLS, NJ — Weather forecasters are predicting the first widespread snow of the winter season in New Jersey this week, with some ugliness potentially headed to the Caldwell area.

The Caldwells may see rain and/or snow on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). There is a wind advisory in effect from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. South wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday Night: A chance of rain and snow before 3am, then a chance of snow between 3am and 4am, then a chance of rain after 4am. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 35. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Thursday: A chance of rain and snow showers before 8am, then a chance of rain showers between 8am and 10am, then a slight chance of snow showers after 10am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 38. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 26. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Breezy, with a west wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 34. Northwest wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
