Women's Club Student Art Contest Now Accepting Submissions
The local contest with Grover Cleveland Park as its theme will run in conjunction with the Caldwell Merchants Association's Art on the Avenue on June 1.
Women's Club of Caldwell is now taking submissions for its Student Art Contest that will take place during Art on the Avenue on June 1.
The art contest is for students in kindergarten through grade 12 and entries will be accepted through May 23. Only one submission per student is permitted.
The theme of the contest will be Grover Cleveland Park in celebration of the park's 100th anniversary. All student entries must use the park as its overall theme.

The contest is for two-dimensional art only, and the medium is limited to drawing, illustration and painting. No photographs or copyrighted images will be accepted.
Student submission must be limited to 9 by 12 inches, and must be mounted on cardboard, matte board or foam core.

Entries must be submitted by Thursday, May 23. No late entries will be accepted.
Art work can be submitted at the following locations and times:
- The Caldwell Public Library, at 268 Bloomfield Ave., Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m., or Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
- The Coloring Room, at 287 Bloomfield Ave., Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m, Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., or Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The exhibit label must be filled out by the student’s parent and attached to back of the student artwork. The parent consent form is located in the photo gallery of this article.
How The Artwork Will Be Judged
Artwork will be grouped into the following categories:
- Kindergarten
- Second grade
- Third through fifth grade
- Sixth through eighth grade
- Ninth through 12th grade
Artwork will be judged on its originality, the artistic composition and the iinterpretation of the theme Grover Cleveland Park.
All artwork submitted will initially be judged by members of the Women’s Club of Caldwell.
Finalists and Winners
Finalists will be displayed at Art on the Avenue for final judging on June 1. The finalists will be judged by a group of independent professional artists.
First place winners in each group will receive prizes. Ribbons will be given to first, second and third place winners. The winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. on June 1.
First, second and third place winning artwork will be displayed in the Caldwell Public Library between June 17 and 28.
Students may pick up their artwork at the end of the show, approximately 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event. All non-winning artwork not picked up by 5:30 p.m. on the day of the show will become property of the Caldwell Merchants Association.
