Chatham Borough Police: One Man Arrested for Shoplifting, One Issued Summons For Illegal Dumping

In the latest incident report from the Chatham Borough Police, one man was arrested for shoplifting from a local CVS Pharmacy and another man was issued a summons for illegal dumping, also at a local CVS Pharmacy.

On March 30 at 9:19 p.m, Patrols responded to the CVS Pharmacy on Main Street on a report of a shoplifter. When they arrived, CVS Loss Prevention Agents had Anthony J. McBryde, 50, of Parsippany, in custody for shoplifting disposable razors and a box of Rogaine with a total value of $370. The agents also observed McBryde on the security cameras shoplifting on March 2 and March 23, but were unable to apprehend him at that time.

McBryde was brought to headquarters for processing and bail was set at $2,500. McBryde was unable to post bail so he was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility.

On March 16 at 11:09 p.m., Sergeant Michael Mahoney was on patrol in the CVS parking lot when he observed a U-Haul truck parked by the CVS dumpster. As Mahoney approached, the truck began to drive away without any lights on. The truck was stopped in front of the CVS and the driver was identified as Timothy Williams, 27, of Bernardsville, New Jersey.

At the same time, Mahoney was approached by the CVS manager who observed the truck near the dumpster and was in the process of calling the police. It was determined that Williams had dumped a total of 9 black garbage bags containing household rubbish in the CVS dumpster.

Williams removed all of the bags from the dumpster and placed them back in his truck. He was also issued a summons for Illegal Dumping and released.
