Chatham Student Earns 2023 College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship
The Chatham High School student will be awarded between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.
CHATHAM, NJ — A Chatham High School student has earned the prestigious college-sponsored merit scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Competition for 2023, the organization announced.
Flora H. Jeng received a National Merit Rutgers University Scholarship. Jeng plans to study aerospace engineering at the university next fall.
Rutgers University, founded in 1766, is the state university of New Jersey, with 13 colleges in New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden. The majority of colleges are residential and provide education in a wide range of arts and sciences, as well as many professional fields such as engineering, pharmacy, nursing, environmental sciences and performing arts.

Jeng is among more than 7,140 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
Officials at each of the sponsored colleges selected their scholarship winners from among the finalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution.

The chosen students will be awarded between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
An additional group of Scholars will be announced in July.
