CHERRY HILL, NJ — While many brick-and-mortar stores are going virtual, two major online brands will be opening a physical location in Cherry Hill in 2022.

Amazon will open an Amazon 4-Star store at the Cherry Hill Mall in the first half of 2022, mall owner Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) announced.

The store will offer an ever-changing and highly curated assortment of top-selling products from Amazon.com.

Warby Parker will also open a physical location at the mall in the first half of the new year, according to PREIT. Warby Parker is an eyewear brand that says it was founded with a “mission to inspire and impact the world with vision, purpose and style.”

Exact opening dates have not yet been announced for either store.

“Cherry Hill Mall continues to lead the PREIT fleet by attracting high-quality tenancy and generating traffic,” PREIT CEO Joseph F. Coradino said. “We have long believed that at the confluence of online and offline retail lives a great customer experience. The physical world allows for an unmatched marketing opportunity for brands to engage with consumers and to offer instant gratification sought by so many.”

Every product in the Amazon 4-Star store is a top-rated product. Each has been given “four stars” by Amazon customers, is a top-seller or is new and trending online, according to Amazon.com.

Amazon Prime Members will get their online discount for in-store purchases. The store at the Cherry Hill Mall will be the company’s third in New Jersey, according to Amazon.com.

Warby Parker is a New York based company founded in 2010. Customers who order online get a free trial with five frames over a five-day period, after which they select the frames they wish to keep. The company is named after two characters that appear in a journal written by Jack Kerouac, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Amazon and Warby Parker, both historically e-commerce brands, join recent additions, Purple and Peloton, indicating an increase in consumer demand for in-person retail experiences, PREIT said in its announcement.

Peloton opened a permanent, in-store location, after its temporary unit proved successful. Purple, the innovative mattress company offering a proprietary technology, opened earlier in November.
