Artifacts, Heroes Run Will Commemorate 9/11 In Part Of Camden County
The events will be held Sunday.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The public was invited to attend two events that will be held at Cooper River Park on Sunday to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the tragedies of Sept. 11.
The first event, which will be held at Monument Row, starts at 8:15 a.m., according to the Camden County Commissioners.
The event will include the showing of a new monument that was built from structural steel from the towers at the former World Trade Center site, limestone from the Pentagon and soil that came from the ground where Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, the county said.

Camden County's previous memorial to victims of terrorism was moved, reconstructed and placed in monument row in the Cherry Hill section of the park, according to the county.
"This memorial is now sacred space for our community; a place for residents to reflect and learn about some of the most tragic events related to terrorism in our generation," said Camden County Commissioner Jon Young, who spearheaded the plans involving the old and new memorials.

"The monument is a proper home for these artifacts that came from hallowed ground and provides us with the ability to pay proper tribute to the lives lost on 9/11," he also said.
The second event is the Travis Manion Run, and it starts at Monument Row at 9:11 a.m., Camden County said.
The run takes participants around the Cooper River loop "and allows the community to honor local veterans, their families, and first responders," according to Camden County.
Those who cannot attend these events but would like to pay homage to the 2,977 people who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 — including Frank DeMartini of Haddon Heights and Danielle Kousoulis of Haddon Township — may wish to visit one of Camden County's other permanent memorials related to Sept. 11.
These memorials are in Audubon, Bellmawr, Gloucester City, Haddon Township and on Rutgers University's Camden Campus, according to Camden County's website.
