Cherry Hill Attorney Nominated To Federal Court
President Joe Biden has nominated Georgette Castner for a position as a federal judge for New Jersey.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — A partner in a Cherry Hill law firm has been nominated to serve as a U.S. District Court Judge in New Jersey.
Georgette Castner was among 10 judicial nominees named by President Joe Biden this week.
Castner is a partner at Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads, LLP in Cherry Hill, where she is a member of the litigation practice group and the firm’s diversity committee, according to the announcement from the White House.
Castner is also a member of the Moorestown Zoning Board and is on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character and the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Model Civil Jury Charges.

New Jersey resident Evelyn Padin was also named as a judicial nominee by the president. Padin would be the second Latina federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, according to the White House.
“President Biden’s decision to nominate Georgette Castner and Evelyn Padin to serve on the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey will bring two experienced, capable, and ethical attorneys to the federal bench,” Gov. Phil Murphy said. “Both Georgette and Evelyn have distinguished themselves as attorneys in private practice, and they will be outstanding additions to the federal judiciary. I applaud Senator Menendez and Senator Booker for supporting these strong and qualified female candidates and expeditiously acting to fill our federal judicial vacancies.”

In her position as an attorney, Castner represents people, non-profits, businesses, and, government entities in litigation and investigations, as well as in pro bono matters. She joined the firm in 2007, and became a partner in 2015.
She served as a law clerk for Judge Joseph F. Lisa on the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, from 2006 to 2007.
Castner received her J.D., with honors, from Rutgers University School of Law in 2006 and her B.S., cum laude, from The College of New Jersey in 2002.
