Cherry Hill House Fire Displaces Soldier, Teacher, Their 4 Kids

A GoFundMe has been established to assist the family of six.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A U.S. Army Soldier, a teacher and their four children were displaced after a fire roared through their Cherry Hill house on Monday, according to a GoFundMe campaign assisting them.

The fire broke out Monday afternoon at 218 Garfield Ave. Photos shared by the Cherry Hill Fire Department show heavy flames roaring from the second floor.

Firefighters placed it under control at 3:44 p.m. There was no immediate word on what caused the fire.

No injuries were reported, but a family of six was displaced.

Bobby Ianni has been serving the U.S. Army for more than 15 years, while Jen is a teacher in Camden's Charter School Network, the GoFundMe says.

They have three children in Cherry Hill schools, a toddler who attends preschool, and a dog named Cooper who greets neighbors as they walk by.

The GoFundMe page has an $18,000 goal and has generated nearly $11,000 as of this writing. It is sponsored by the Cherry Valley & Peppermill Farms Civic Association.

"It's hard to imagine something so devastating hitting so close to home," the GoFundMe says. "The Ianni family continuously gives back to their country and community."

Red Cross New Jersey said they also helped the family with temporary housing and other immediate needs.
