Prized Walrus Genitalia Stolen From Iconic South Jersey Restaurant

The spot that Anthony Bourdain said has the best Philly cheesesteaks has another part unknown: a walrus penis bone, which was stolen.

CAMDEN, NJ — An iconic South Jersey restaurant has a bone to pick with a patron who allegedly stole their prized walrus anatomy.

Donkey's Place in Camden, which Anthony Bourdain said has the best Philly cheesesteaks, has another part unknown to less of the public: a walrus penis bone.

Scientifically, it's called a baculum — a bone in the penis of many mammals, but not humans.

A walrus baculum long sat behind the bar at Donkey's Place, where it's been a popular conversation piece, according to nj.com, which first reported the incident. That is, until a bar patron allegedly stole it last week.

The restaurant shared a TikTok video in which an employee describes the incident. She says a group of three guys had been drinking there for hours. While she was in the back, one patron grabbed the walrus bone as the group left.

"I wasn't thinking that they would do something like this," said bartender Mia Panella. "It's something that we do at Donkey's, and this guy just decided to ruin it."

The video contains a photo of the patron who allegedly took it. Donkey's Place hopes someone can identify him, or that the customer returns the bone.

Established in 1943, Donkey's Place has achieved widespread acclaim for its cheesesteak. Bourdain claimed that the best cheesesteaks in the Philly area come from the Jersey restaurant, while the New York Post says Donkey's Place makes the best cheesesteak in the country.

Donkey's Place is located at 1223 Haddon Ave., Camden.
