Democratic Incumbents Lead Cherry Hill Township Council Election

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The Democratic incumbents hold commanding leads late Tuesday night in the Cherry Hill Township Council elections.

Cherry Hill has two Township Council seats available — both for unexpired (partial) terms.

Council Member Daniel V. DiRenzo, Jr., a Democrat, has 23,104 votes as of Tuesday night. Republican challenger Judi L. Giacoboni-Russo trails with 12,547 votes.

Meanwhile, Council Member Jill R. Hulnick has 21,398 votes, while Republican candidate Anna R. Adler has 12,978.

It's unclear how many votes still need to be counted. No voting precincts in Cherry Hill have reported complete results as of 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The council seats formerly belonged to Dave Fleisher, who was elected mayor last year, and Brian Bauerle, who Fleisher appointed as his chief of staff. The council selected DiRenzo and Hulnick to fill both positions in the interim. But after a year, those positions must be put up for a vote to see who will fill the remainder of each council term.

Local elections also include the Cherry Hill Board of Education race.

Here are the vote tallies. The results remain unofficial until certified by the Camden County Clerk's Office on a later date.
