COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics Set For Cherry Hill Schools This Summer

Anyone can get vaccinated at a pair of upcoming clinics at Cherry Hill schools, even if they don't attend school in the district.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A pair of COVID-19 vaccination clinics will take place in Cherry Hill schools in July and August as the county sees an increase in the number of coronavirus cases related to the delta variant.

The clinics will take place at Barton Elementary School on July 28 and Aug. 18; and at Beck Middle School on July 29 and Aug. 19. Both clinics will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is available for residents ages 12 years old and older who live and work in the state. The single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine is available for those older than 18.

The clinic is being held as Camden County officials announced that the presence of the delta variant in the county had more than doubled in two weeks.

Last week, officials said 70 percent of new coronavirus cases in Camden County were made up of the delta strain of the virus, first identified in India. Read more here: COVID Delta Strain Sees Rapid Growth In Camden County

Camden County has also resumed reporting the number of new coronavirus cases reported in the county. Ten new cases were reported in Cherry Hill, and 79 new cases were reported in Camden County as a whole for the period covering Saturday through Tuesday.

As of Tuesday, there have been 49,944 coronavirus cases and 1,236 coronavirus-related deaths in Camden County since the pandemic began in March 2020.

As of Tuesday, 296,173 Camden County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 269,646 are fully vaccinated. More information regarding vaccination rates throughout the county and available on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard at covid19.nj.gov.

“Make no mistake about it, the Delta variant is fueling the spread of this virus, and we have not reached herd immunity through our vaccination program. If you are unvaccinated, you are still at risk,” Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “The last time we saw rising cases, we had limited preventative measures to protect ourselves. This time can be different thanks to the free, safe, effective vaccines that are readily available throughout the community. If you have not been vaccinated, don’t wait until this virus impacts your family, get protected now.”
