Eagles Parade Traffic In South Jersey: Parking Bans, Congestion And More

It won't just be difficult to drive and park in Philly. Here are a few ways the parade will impact travel across the Delaware.

SOUTH JERSEY — Even if you don't attend the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl victory parade, it'll be difficult to avoid some of its traffic impacts in South Jersey.

Philadelphia officials expect more than 1 million people to attend Friday's parade and ceremony. Plenty of those fans will be heading from or passing through South Jersey.

The parade starts at 11 a.m., with the ensuing ceremony expected to end at 3:15 p.m. Whether you're traveling to the parade or elsewhere on Friday, it's important to plan your trip in advance.

Increased traffic is expected on the Delaware River Port Authority's bridges: the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross. So the DRPA recommends leaving early if you're crossing any of them.

If you drive, keep in mind that dozens of Philadelphia streets will be closed on Friday. Find the full list here.

PATCO Skipping Stops

The PATCO Speedline has a modified schedule for parade day.

Several South Jersey stations will begin closing at 4 a.m. and won't be served for much of the day: Ashland (Voorhees), Haddonfield, Westmont, Collingswood and Broadway (Camden).

From 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., PATCO will go westbound only with express stops in Lindenwold, Woodcrest (Cherry Hill), Ferry Avenue and City Hall (both in Camden). This will allow trains to arrive in Philadelphia every 5 minutes.

From 1-7 p.m., PATCO will shift to eastbound-only service while stopping at the same South Jersey stations.

All stations will reopen at 7 p.m., when normal service will resume.

Parking Challenges In South Jersey Too

It's not just Philadelphia where you might have trouble finding a parking spot.

PATCO offers parking at the Lindenwold, Woodcrest and Ferry Avenue stations. But the lots are expected to fill up quickly.

Meanwhile, at least two locales along the rail have enacted their own parking restrictions for parade day. Cherry Hill will prohibit parking on select streets near Woodcrest Station.

Stratford police will close select streets to prevent overflow parking from impacting businesses near the White Horse Pike. Lindenwold Station is nearby.
