Ex-Phillies Pitcher Now Offers Coaching In Cherry Hill

Pitchers of all ages can train under Jeff Singer, who competed in the minors and independent leagues and made the Phils' roster in 2022.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A former member of the Phillies' organization is now training pitchers in Cherry Hill.

Jeff Singer, 30, competed professionally in the minors and independent leagues, including several years in the Phillies' system. In April 2022, the Phillies promoted him to the majors for one game.

Singer, a Cinnaminson native, spent his offseasons training and coaching local athletes in the area. He currently runs 1-1 Pitching, which offers individual lessons and personalized arm care for pitchers of all ages.

The southpaw has had a unique career path as an undrafted free agent who scraped his way to the highest levels of professional baseball.

After attending Holy Cross Preparatory Academy in Delran, Singer competed collegiately for Gloucester County College, Monmouth University and then Rutgers-Camden. Singer went unselected in the 2015 MLB Draft and signed that year with the Camden Riversharks — a professional, independent-league team.

In October 2015, Singer signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies and competed for six years in different levels of the organization's farm system.

Early in the 2022 season, the Phillies placed Corey Knebel on the COVID list and promoted Singer to the majors. Singer suited up for one game but didn't make an appearance, giving him a unique distinction as a phantom ballplayer.

He had stints last season with two independent-league teams: the Kansas City Monarchs and the Maryland-based Spire City Space Hounds.

"My professional experience and unique approach will provide the traction necessary for athletes to hit the ground running," Singer says on his business's website. "I personally work with each trainee to help them achieve their individual athletic goals."
