Free Steering Wheel Locks Offered To Cherry Hill Residents
Kia and Hyundai, which both manufactured cars that were susceptible to thefts in recent years, have donated the locks.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Cherry Hill residents can now get free steering wheel locks to deter auto thefts.
The locks can be picked up at Cherry Hill Police headquarters (820 Mercer St.). They'll be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, police said Wednesday.

Residents can receive one lock per registered vehicle after showing proof they live in Cherry Hill.
Hyundai Motor Group and Kia Corporation donated the locks, police said.

Certain vehicles from both makes have been susceptible to theft because they were manufactured without immobilizers. Kia and Hyundai have been offering free steering wheel locks in response to the thefts.
Two years ago, the auto companies both agreed to pay about $200 million to resolve a class-action lawsuit.
Cherry Hill police reminded residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables.
