Here’s Why Jimmy Was Shouted Out As A Cherry Hill Star Student
Three family members heralded Jimmy for his dedication to volunteering in the community. He also earned a place at the NJ DECA finals.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This Star Student, Jimmy, was nominated by three people: his cousin Allysa Nicole, aunt Toni, and mom Diane. Here's what they had to say:
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
From Allysa Nicole:
My cousin Jimmy is the most loving, good-hearted caring person I'm so lucky to have as a family member, he loves animals and has 2 cats and volunteered at AWA when he was 14. Jimmy has increased his volunteer work to now include the Red Cross and Cinnaminson Fire Department. He works so well with younger peers that he spent his summers as camp counselor at the YMCA of the Pines in Medford, a swim instructor at LifeTime fitness, and assistant swim coach for Cherry Hill East High School. Jimmy also helped his class advance to the State Finals for DECA. I am so proud of the young man my cousin Jimmy, he is and will continue to be a valuable contributor to his community.
From Toni:
My nephew Jimmy started his volunteer work with AWA when he was 14 and now volunteers for the Red Cross and Cinnaminson Fire Department. He is also a swimming instructor at Cherry Hill East HS and Lifetime Fitness. Jimmy is selfless, empathetic and very humble in his volunteer work. He makes our family so proud.
From Diane:
Jimmy should be recognized as a star student for many reasons. Jimmy is a senior at Cherry Hill East High School. He recently presented at the local DECA conference which earned him a place at the New Jersey state finals. Jimmy takes this achievement seriously and is working hard to present at the state conference with the hope of advancing to the DECA National Conference. When Jimmy is not wrapped up in his studies, he is doing great things for our community. He's a volunteer and CPR/AED certified for Professional Rescuers and First Aid with the American Red Cross. Jimmy is also a volunteer fireman for the Cinnaminson Fire Department. He is the youngest member of the volunteer crew to complete the required training that allows him to travel with the rescue team on the fire truck when called to action. If his volunteer achievements for the community aren't enough, Jimmy is an employee and Lifeguard at Lifetime Fitness where he is admired by his peer group for his outstanding skills. With all of the background and experience Jimmy earned, he expects to continue serving the community by pursuing a career in law enforcement or with the U.S. military.
