House Catches Fire In Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A fire heavily damaged a house on Wednesday in Cherry Hill.

The blaze broke out at a home on the corner of Ravenswood Way and Springdale Road. It was extinguished just before 1 p.m., officials said.

No injuries were reported.

Photos from the Cherry Hill Fire Department show flames and heavy smoke emerging from the home.

It's unclear what caused the fire. But a rainless stretch during New Jersey's current drought has made the state especially vulnerable to fires spreading.

This includes the 11,500-acre wildfire in Ocean County that spurred thousands of evacuations and has destroyed several buildings and vehicles as of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
