Major Hospital Network Lays Off More Than 100 Cherry Hill Employees

One of the region's largest health care networks is slashing its workforce, including a significant number of cuts in South Jersey.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — One of South Jersey's largest health care providers is laying off more than 100 Cherry Hill employees, according to state records.

Jefferson Health is reducing its 55,000-employee workforce by about 1 percent. Between 600 and 700 employees could be impacted throughout Greater Philadelphia, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

At least 108 employees employees in Cherry Hill will be laid off, effective Jan. 13, according to a WARN notice filed in New Jersey.

Jefferson Health, which operates a hospital and several medical offices in Cherry Hill, did not specify where the impacted employees work.

Jefferson's other New Jersey hospitals are in Stratford and Turnersville.

Jefferson CEO Dr. Joseph G. Cacchione issued the following statement:

"Like many organizations in health care and higher education, we are facing significant financial headwinds. To sustain our mission and continue serving our communities, we must take thoughtful, strategic actions to align our operations for the future. While these decisions are never easy, they are necessary to ensure Jefferson remains strong and able to invest in expanding access to care, advancing innovation, and supporting those who rely on us most."
