Lions, Irish Hang in Football Playoff Hunt

A loss last week dinged Cherry Hill West’s standing in the Group 4 power points, but the Lions—as well as Camden Catholic—remain in the playoff hunt with two weeks before the cutoff date.

West’s loss to Moorestown pushed the team down to eighth in the power points standings in South Jersey, Group 4, but the Lions, with just six games played so far, are within 14 points of fourth place, and could pick up ground with a win either this week against Bishop Eustace or the final week of the regular season against Camden Catholic.

The best seven results from the season count toward each team’s final total.

The Lions also have a cushion on the teams below them—Toms River East, Moorestown and Triton all trail by five, six and 15 points, respectively, and both Toms River East and Moorestown have already played seven games.

Camden Catholic also slipped to the bubble after a loss to Seneca; the Irish now sit seventh in Non-Public Group 2, trailing Bishop Eustace and Gloucester Catholic.

Cherry Hill East is out of the running in Group 5, which is loaded with powerhouses like Eastern, Cherokee and Williamstown.
