LUCY Outreach (Lifting Up Camden’s Youth) to Host Spring Event

LUCY Outreach, a Camden nonprofit offering multilingual, culturally responsive services to at risk and low-income youth, young adults and their families, is holding its Annual Spring Event on Thursday, April 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Collingswood Grand Ballroom. Open to the public, tickets are $150/person with event proceeds benefiting LUCY Outreach programming.

This year’s event will celebrate LUCY’s accomplishments, including the renowned “senior strut” honoring high school senior college scholarship recipients, delicious food, live entertainment, and silent auction items featuring popular vacation homes, outdoor experiences, restaurant gift cards, sporting packages and much more.

Once again, the event will spotlight a LIVE auction featuring the opportunity to win amazing vacation getaway packages including: a South African Safari – a luxury glamping trip with safari and Big Game Reserve excursions along with a South African cookout and more; Caribbean Stay for 2 – a 5 night all-inclusive with a choice of resorts in Jamaica, St. Lucia, Barbados and other destinations; Grand Canyon Glamping – a 3 night stay under a sky dome in the Grand Canyon to enjoy stargazing, live music, and s’mores; Amalfi Coast Stay – 7 nights in a private villa with a sunset cruise along the Italian coastline; and an Ultimate Sports Experience – 2 seats to a select sports game along with a 2 night stay at a nearby hotel and a $200 dinner gift card.

Ninety-four percent of LUCY participants live at or below the poverty line, attend underperforming schools and have limited access to higher education and fair wage employment opportunities.

About LUCY

In April 2016, LUCY transitioned from a Catholic Parish initiative of the Camden Diocese to LUCY Outreach, a New Jersey Non-Profit Corporation with a 501(c)(3) designation. LUCY has since grown exponentially, moving into its forever home at 3201 Federal Street, and expanding the building to include a 10,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, youth center. In 2023, LUCY made a purchase of the neighboring lot at 3199 Federal Street, which will complete the LUCY campus, as well as outfitting the original 3,500 square foot (original) building, which has become a hub for parent/guardian and alumni support services in 2024, as well as a food pantry site for Camden.
