Masks Required For Cherry Hill Board Of Education Meetings

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The Cherry Hill Public School District is requiring all attendees at Board of Education meetings to wear masks, the district announced on Monday.

“We respect that some are not able to wear masks,” Superintendent of Schools Joseph Meloche and Board of Education President Laurie Neary said in a joint letter issued Monday afternoon. “As an accommodation, we will provide the Zoom platform as a means to attend and participate in Board of Education meetings. This will uphold the rights of individuals with medical conditions who cannot wear a mask, while keeping those in attendance safe. Emailed comments will not be read publicly.”

The announcement was made so that the district can comply with Executive Order 251, which states that New Jersey students, educators, staff and visitors must wear masks in school buildings regardless of vaccination status. “Anyone who attends the in person meeting without a mask will be asked to wear one or leave the building and participate remotely,” the school officials said. “In support of our students, staff and community, we ask that everyone be respectful of this process.”
