Mauled Puppy Update: Owner Takes Plea Deal In Camden County Attack

The puppy was seriously hurt, police said.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The woman whose dog attacked a puppy recently entered into a plea agreement in Cherry Hill Municipal Court, police said.

Jasmine Rodarte's plea agreement consists of "undergoing an alcohol evaluation, being prohibited from owning a dog for one year and being prohibited from making contact with the puppy's family," Cherry Hill Police Chief Robert Kempf told Patch.

Rodarte was charged in June with disturbing the peace and injury to another domestic animal, police have said. She was also charged with owning a "potentially dangerous dog," police said.

In May, Rodarte's dog had brutally attacked a puppy in the municipality's Windsor Mews section, leaving the puppy "partially torn to shreds" and near death, according to neighbors. The attacking dog has since been euthanized, according to police.

At a council meeting held soon after the puppy was attacked, several residents asked that steps be taken to address the situation.

"Everybody here will do everything they can to make sure this gets resolved," Council Member William Carter said at that meeting. "No one should have to feel afraid in their own community."
