New State Aid For Cherry Hill Schools To Be Appropriated

Millions of dollars in newly available state aid will be up for discussion at Cherry Hill's next school board meeting.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Millions of dollars in newly available state aid will be up for discussion at Cherry Hill's school board meeting.

The Cherry Hill School District was set to lose $6.9 million in state-equalization aid for the 2024-25 school year — one of the largest year-over-year reductions among all New Jersey school systems. But a state bailout passed last month in Trenton will restore some of the district's funding.

As a result, the state has provided Cherry Hill with $3.1 million toward next year's budget, cutting into 45 percent of the projected loss in aid. Tuesday's Board of Education meeting will feature a vote on how to allocate that funding.

The board passed a $251.6 million budget last April. But efforts from the State Legislature with the potential to restore some of that lost funding were on the district's radar.

Tuesday's school board meeting begins at 6:30 Tuesday in the Arthur Lewis Administration Building (45 Ranoldo Terrace). Remote access is also available.
