No Republicans Running For Cherry Hill Township Council This Year

The Democratic ticket includes 3 council members and a Zoning Board member.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Four Democratic candidates filed to run for Cherry Hill Township Council, and they might not face any Republican opposition this November.

Cherry Hill has four council seats up for grabs this year. Four Democrats, including three incumbents, filed to run. No Republicans or third-party candidates submitted petitions to enter the race, according to township officials.

Monday marked the state deadline for candidates to file petitions to get on the ballot for the 2025 primary elections. But the candidate field will be finalized once certified on a later date.

The Democratic slate includes three council members running to retain their seats: Sangeeta Doshi, Jill Hulnick and William Carter III, who is council president.

Council Member Carole Roskoph is not running for re-election. Zoning Board Member Rob Connor is running as a Democrat in her place.

Cherry Hill is a Democratic stronghold, with the mayor and all council members belonging to the party.

The Democratic candidates will have an uncontested primary election, but it remains to be seen whether they'll run unopposed in the general. The filing deadline for independent candidates is June 10, which is also Primary Election Day.

The General Election is on Nov. 4.
