Police See Increase In Cherry Hill Car Burglaries

Cherry Hill police are reminding residents to lock their doors as the township sees an increase in car burglaries.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Cherry Hill police are reminding residents to lock their doors as the township sees an increase in car burglaries.

“While it may be convenient to leave your vehicle unlocked, these types of criminals commit their crimes by pulling on car door handles to see if the door is unlocked,” police said in a statement. “If you leave your vehicle unlocked, you are at a greater risk to be a victim of these crimes.”

Police recommend creating a routine of locking the door to your car and then locking the exterior doors of your house before you go to bed.

“The more you do it, the more natural it will be,” police said. “Remember: lock it, or lose it. Additionally, parking your vehicle inside of a secured garage, or in a well lit area can be a deterrent to these types of criminals. When possible, park your vehicle in an area where the vehicle can be captured by security cameras/ doorbell cameras, as this will assist in the investigation of the theft.”

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of a car burglary should contact Cherry Hill Police Dispatch at 856-665-1200.
