Shooting Near Cherry Hill Football Game Under Investigation
Eight shell casings were found following reports of a shooting near Friday night's game between Cherry Hill West and Bridgeton.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — Police are investigating a shooting that took place in an area near the location of Friday night’s football game between Cherry Hill High School West and Bridgeton High School.
The shooting took place at about 8:47 p.m. in the residential area of Fulton and Weld streets, which is in the immediate area of the football complex, according to authorities.
Eight shell casings were found in the area, but no victims or suspects have been identified, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Acting Cherry Hill Police Chief Larry Robb.

"Upon notification of the incident that evening, our administrators and Campus Police Officers at the stadium immediately closed the gates to the stadium and no one was permitted to enter. The Cherry Hill Police recommended that we continue the game," Cherry Hill Superintendent of Schools Joseph Meloche said in a message to the community on Saturday. "The game continued and concluded without incident. The health and safety of our students and community members at school events is our top priority. I would like to thank the Cherry Hill Police Department, our Campus Police Officers, and our district staff members for their quick action to maintain safety, calm and order."
Bridgeton won the game, 32-24, according to nj.com.
