Virtua Voorhees Earns National Recognition From Leapfrog

VOORHEES, NJ — Virtua Voorhees Hospital has been recognized among the top hospitals in the country by a national nonprofit organization, the health system announced.

Virtua Voorhees was named a Top Teaching Hospital nationally by The Leapfrog Group. Virtua is one of 13 teaching hospitals in New Jersey to earn this honor; New Jersey is the most represented state on the list.

“I have witnessed countless acts of compassion, critical thinking, and clinical excellence since the start of the pandemic; the Virtua workforce has truly risen to meet this pivotal moment in time,” said Paul Minnick, president of Virtua Voorhees and Marlton hospitals and senior vice president of Virtua Health. “It is particularly gratifying to be recognized as a teaching hospital as we prepare the next generation of health care personnel to be part of this vital, meaningful line of work.”

Virtua Voorhees’ medical residency programs – which provide hands-on training and experience to new doctors – include pharmacy, podiatry, OB/GYN, and family medicine. The hospital also earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group in November 2021.

“In the years ahead, Virtua will establish itself an outstanding academic health system in collaboration with Rowan University. As our number of residency programs expands over time, so too, will our reputation for providing immersive, challenging, and rewarding learning opportunities for sought-after health care personnel,” Virtua Health Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer Reg Blaber said.
