Water Main Replacements In Cherry Hill Begin Next Week
New Jersey American Water will launch a $295,000 project to replace about 1,480 feet of aging water main in Cherry Hill next week.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — New Jersey American Water will launch a $295,000 project to replace about 1,480 feet of aging water main in Cherry Hill starting next week, the water company announced on Tuesday.
The aging 6-inch cast iron water lines that were installed in the 1960s will be replaced with new 8-inch ductile iron main along the entire length of Portsmouth Road. One fire hydrant and 33 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route will also be replaced.
The project will continue to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in the community.

It is part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.
New Jersey American Water’s contractor, Pioneer Pipe Contractors, Inc. will begin work the week of Dec. 6 and expects to be completed by spring, weather permitting.

Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work outside these hours is not expected unless required to maintain project schedule. Final street restorations will be completed in the summer of 2022.
There will be traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns during work hours. All emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed access during construction.
New Jersey American Water advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.
Customers are asked to follow social distancing guidelines as set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
