Women's Advocate Killed In Burlington County Remembered, GoFundMe Started

The account had $9,155 as of 7 a.m. Thursday.

FLORENCE, NJ — A GoFundMe account was set up to help the daughters of Shelia Maguire, the woman who was found dead inside a home on Birch Hollow Drive in Florence on Monday.

The 54-year-old's death was declared a homicide on Wednesday by law enforcement officials.

The account had $9,155, more than 90 percent of its $10,000 goal as of 7 a.m. Thursday. A person identifying herself as Christine Conklin of Somerdale had set up the account.

"Sheila was a light! She was fun, positive, uplifting and supportive. She was an advocate for women, children and families with an unmatched passion," that person wrote. "Unfortunately, she was senselessly taken from all of us, but her daughters will carry the weight of this traumatic event forever."

Patch's attempts to reach Conklin Thursday morning were not immediately returned.

Maguire was not heard from "for a few days" prior to her body being found, according to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Florence Township Police Chief Brian Boldizar read.

The cause of Maguire's death was not being released, and no arrests in her homicide had been announced as of 7 a.m. Thursday.
