There were no working smoke detectors in the house, according to Franklin Fire Company #1.

"This should remind us to check our smoke alarms, change the batteries twice a year, and replace them and Carbon Monoxide detector devices every ten years," the fire department said in a statement. "Please check your older neighbors and relatives to make sure they have working smoke alarms."

There was no immediate word on what caused the fire.

Franklin Fire Company #1 in Mansfield responded to the incident with police, EMS and fire departments from several surrounding communities.
