They also learned about bike-riding safety while raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

More than 100 adults and children gathered May 17 to show support for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the Family Co-Op Nursery School’s annual Trike-A-Thon celebration. Over the past few years, the Family Co-Op has raised nearly $12,000 for this worthwhile cause by hosting this free event. Trike-A-Thon is a weeklong safety curriculum and fundraising program that teaches children important bike, scooter, and other riding-toy safety lessons, while supporting St. Jude through generous donations. Last week, students of the Family Co-Op Nursery School enjoyed discussions and activities about riding safety with teachers Nancy Rinehimer and Mary Tompkins. The week concluded with an application of learning and celebration of fundraising success as students and their families enjoyed a day of riding fun, jumping in a bounce house, assorted crafts, snacks, and socializing. This is just one of the many ways that the Family Co-Op gives back to the community. While helping to prepare children for kindergarten both academically and socially, the Family-Co-Op prides itself on its safe and nurturing learning environment. Family, respect, generosity, and tolerance are the cornerstones of this local preschool. The Family Co-Op offers morning and afternoon sessions to 3- and 4-year-olds, and is currently enrolling students for the 2012-2013 school year.
