Teen Drowns at Special Services School in Westampton: Prosecutor
The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and Westampton Township Police are investigating the drowning, which has preliminarily been deemed an accident.

UPDATE: In response to the reported drowning of a student at the Burlington County Special Services School District Friday afternoon, Superintendent Donald Lucas and the board of education issued the following statement:

A 17-year-old male student drowned at the Burlington County Special Services School District in Westampton Friday afternoon, according to authorities.
According to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, the drowning occurred during an aquatics class. The investigation thus far has preliminarily determined the drowning was accidental but the investigation is ongoing. A 911 call was placed from the school just before 1 p.m. to alert emergency officials to respond to the school.

The prosecutor’s office and the Westampton Township Police Department are investigating.
Authorities did not immediately release the name of the student.
