Collingswood Businesses on Vacation in August

A quick walk down Haddon Avenue offers a reminder that local business owners need a break, too.

Take a look around the downtown borough business district and you'll see the signs of the season—literally.

Like the operators of the venerable Martins Cleaners, a lot of Collingswood shopkeepers are taking those precious few weeks before the school year kicks off to get in some much needed R&R.

For a couple of locations around town, closing the doors offers more than a chance to take a breath. Look for the newly renovated Il Fiore—favorite of Collingswood Foodies Jamie and Jessica Blanchard—to reopen Wednesday after a two-week break.

Fans of Giocamo Biondo's Grandma pizza at Cafe Antonio are encouraged to get their fix between Monday and Saturday, as the new owner gives his interior a makeover.

Want a Matthew Quick anecdote from Kenny and Gina Horlacher, above whose shop, Cheese, Etc., the Oaklyn native wrote Silver Linings Playbook? Get it from them in person at the Farmer's Market; the shop is closed on Saturdays this month.

Simply Inviting has saved the dates from August 9 through 17 to refill its inkwell; likewise, Collingswood's Pinterest store, I Made This with Craftleen, is taking some time to get some new crafty ideas in advance of the craft festival.

Recharge those batteries and come back rested for the fall, folks.
