Special Budget Meeting, Summer Mummers: Week Ahead

Special Budget Meeting
Collingswood will introduce its 2013 municipal budget at a special meeting at the Community Center at 7 p.m. on Monday. Early reports said that Collingswood taxpayers can expect about a $56 average household increase in what is anticipated to be a $16.1 million budget, according to Mayor James Maley.

Those of you budget fans who have business before the Collingswood Board of Education might have to choose: The school board meeting is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Zane North Elementary School on Monday.

Collingswood Movie Club
Blogger Robert Castle will show film aficionados the French movie Baxter, about which he has written extensively. It is "about a bull terrier who is not content with a boring owner," Castle wrote. "He has his own ideas about being challenged and dominated." The movie starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Collingswood Public Library meeting room.

Summer Mummers
This week, the free concert series will bring the Hegeman String Band to the plaza on Powell Lane. The show runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bring your own chair and get comfy.

The Sky is Pink
The consumer advocacy group Food and Water Watch will screen The Sky is Pink, a new documentary from Gasland director Josh Fox, in the Collingswood Public Library on Friday at 7 p.m. A community action meeting will follow to discuss the potential impact of fracking in New Jersey.

Girls Night Out
Blue Moon Premium Olive Oil & Vinegar will host a Stella & Dot jewelry and accessories party on Friday, June 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. It includes complimentary wine and refreshments and a chance to win door prizes.
