Oct. 23, 2022
Virtua Voorhees Hospital has been named a top maternity hospital by Money (formerly Money Magazine) in collaboration with the Leapfrog Group. Virtua Health, a health system that is synonymous with maternity care in South Jersey, was among an elite group of 259 hospitals nationwide to receive this honor. Money’s 2022 Best Maternity Hospitals is based on maternity care data submitted in the 2022 Leapfrog Hospital survey of more than 2,200 hospitals throughout the country.

To qualify for the list, eligible hospitals were required to carry an A or B letter grade on the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessment for spring 2022. Hospitals were also required to meet criteria specific to providing maternity care.
“We are very proud to be recognized as a top maternity hospital by Money and the Leapfrog Group,” said Nicole Lamborne, MD, Virtua’s vice president of clinical operations for women’s health. “Virtua has spent years developing the protocols to improve maternal health and birth outcomes in response to the rising maternal mortality rate in the United States. These protocols, along with our commitment to patient-centered care, has resulted in the safest and best birth experiences for all of our new mothers and our tiniest patients.”

Earlier this year, Virtua Voorhees was also recognized as one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals by Newsweek and the data firm Statista. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report listed Virtua Voorhees and Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital among the best-performing hospitals in New Jersey and the Philadelphia Metro area.
Virtua Voorhees is one of three New Jersey hospitals selected to recently launch the TeamBirth NJ Initiative, an evidence-based, national model for better provider and patient communication during labor and delivery, also called “shared decision-making.” This important initiative further enhances the birthing experience and improves outcomes for mothers and babies.
In 2021, Virtua Health delivered more than 9,100 babies; current projections suggest 2022 will be just shy of last year’s record-setting achievement.
