Ani Ramen In Cranford, Summit Ranked Among Best Ramen Places In NJ: Report

Ani Ramen made NJ.com's list of the "15 greatest bowls of ramen" in the Garden State.

CRANFORD, NJ — For those looking for a warm, comforting meal as the weather starts getting colder, a bowl of ramen soup might be an ideal choice.

In NJ.com's recent ranking of the Garden State's 15 greatest bowls of ramen, a local spot was rated as one of the best. Ani Ramen — located in Cranford, Summit, Maplewood and more — made the #5 spot on NJ.com's list.

Ani Ramen first launched in Montclair and now has locations in Jersey City, Summit, Maplewood, Cranford, New Brunswick, Manhattan, Westchester and a Princeton location is on the way.

A typical ramen bowl, which is a Japanese noodle dish, is filled with Chinese-style wheat noodles, served in a broth and topped with meat, veggies and often a hard boiled egg.

According to NJ.com, Ani Ramen's chef special is one of the best in the state, containing a "flavorful" broth with chili paste, chives, garlic, ginger, onion, shallot and lemongrass.

"The kakuni (pork belly) is so tender it might fall apart as you pick it up with your chopsticks," food writer Jeremy Schneider said.

Cranford's Ani Ramen, located at 109 Walnut Avenue, previously made headlines for its robo-server, named Rosie the Ramenbot, who serves ramen to hungry customers.
