Body Of Teen Who Jumped Off Manahawkin Bridge Located: Police

A 19-year-old was seen jumping from the bridge on Nov. 25; his body was recovered Wednesday evening, Stafford police said.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — The body of a 19-year-old seen jumping from the Manahawkin Bridge just before Thanksgiving has been found, Stafford police said.

He was seen jumping off the Route 72 Causeway bridge at about 10 p.m. on Nov. 25, police previously said.

Following a multi-agency search lasting about three weeks, the boy's body was found Wednesday evening about 200 meters north of the bridge, police said. The New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau located the individual using sonar equipment, and the West Tuckerton Fire Department Dive Team recovered the body.

His family has been notified and the body was taken to Community Medical Center for an autopsy. Police said that no further details will be released at this time.

Stafford police thanked all of the agencies involved in the search and recovery.

"On behalf of the Stafford Township Police Department, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the young man during this incredibly difficult time," police said.
