Beloved Owner Of Cranford's Yumpanadas Restaurant Dies

Downtown Cranford announced the death of Tania Marissa Maranhao, the owner of an empanadas restaurant in Cranford, on Friday.

CRANFORD, NJ — The beloved restaurant owner of Yumpanadas recently died, according to a Facebook post from Downtown Cranford.

"On behalf of Downtown Cranford and the Cranford Area Chamber of Commerce, it is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Tania Marissa Maranhao," the group wrote on Facebook.

Maranhao opened Yumpanadas in Oct. of 2020 and "quickly became an important member of the Cranford community," Downtown Cranford wrote.

"Our thoughts are with Marissa's family, friends, employees, and the Cranford community. She will be dearly missed," said the group.

Many local residents commented on the post, expressing their condolences to Maranhao's family, as well.
