Here's what you need to know today, Aug. 8:
Golden Glitter Princess Event: From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. children can dress like a princess for Little Scoops’ princesses’ event. Receive an etiquette lesson, meet princesses, get hair done, make your own sundae and more for just $28.
Cheese 101: Learn the history of cheese and get a taste testing at Cheese… Please! Bring your own wine and get an idea of the perfect cheese pairing. Event begins at 7 p.m.
Teen Movie: Alice in Wonderland screens at the Cranford Public Library at 2 p.m.
Team in Training: Join Team in Training at the Kilkenny House in Cranford as they kick off their winter season in the fight against cancer.
Self Defense: Register now for the Women’s Self Defense workshop at the Taekwon-Do Center in Cranford. The workshop will be held on Aug. 17 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Ages 12 and up can register for just $60.
On the roads: New Jersey American Water has started work on Springfield Ave. from Penn Road to West End Place yesterday, according to Cranford PD. Northbound traffic on Springfield Avenue will be detoured at Orange Avenue to Kenilworth Boulevard, while southbound traffic will not be impacted. All roadwork will be in the northbound lane and is expected to be complete in four weeks.
