Cranford Arrests: Roselle Woman Charged With Heroin Possession

The following information was provided by the Cranford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following are arrests made in Cranford between Feb. 21 and March 12. 

1.  2/21/13 @ 1529 Hrs.

Central Ave./Springfield Ave.

Arrested: James Terracina, Age 18, Cranford NJ

Arrested by: Det. Michael Andrews

Charges: Possession of Marijuana (less than 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 1993 red Pontiac was stopped for equipment violations.  Following an investigation at the scene, Det. Andrews located suspected marijuana inside the vehicle.  The driver (Terracina) was arrested, processed and released with a court appearance scheduled for 3/14/13 in Municipal Court.

 

2.  2/28/13 @ 2300 Hrs.

Fairfield Ave./Maryland St.

Arrested: Ciaran Freeman, Age 19, Cranford NJ

Arrested by: Ptl. Robert Jordan

Charges: Possession of Marijuana (less than 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks: While checking a report of suspicious activity in a wooded area on Maryland St., Ptl. Jordan located several male suspects.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Jordan located suspected marijuana on the person of Ciaran Freeman.  He was arrested, processed and released with a court date of 3/7/13 in Municipal Court.  Two other males, age 18 and 19, were released at the scene.

 

3.  3/4/13 @ 2212 Hrs.

Centennial Avenue near North Ave. East

Arrested: James Slaughter, Age 65, Cranford NJ

Arrested by: Ptl. Nadia Jones

Charges: Driving While Intoxicated, Careless Driving, Open Container of Alcohol in Vehicle

Remarks:  A 2005 gold GMC was stopped by police after an off-duty Union County Sheriff’s Officer observed the vehicle driving erratically.  Following an investigation at the scene of the stop, Ptl. Jones arrested the driver (Slaughter) for driving while intoxicated.  Slaughter was processed and released with a court date of 3/7/13 in Municipal Court.

 

4.  3/5/13 @ 2159 Hrs.

Centennial Ave. at Raritan Rd.

Arrested: Omar Hairston (driver), Age 40, Newark NJ

Arrested: Lewis Roman (passenger), Age 31, Newark NJ

Arrested by: Ptl. Spencer Durkin

Charges (Hairston): Possession of Heroin and Possession of Paraphernalia

Charges (Roman): Possession of Marijuana (less than 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks:  A 1992 white Ford was stopped for failing to stop at a red signal.  During the investigation at the scene, Ptl. Durkin recovered suspected narcotics on the driver and passenger, as well as in the vehicle.  Both occupants were arrested, processed and released pending a court appearance on 3/11/13 in Superior Court.

 

5.  3/6/13 @ 1353 Hrs.

Centennial Ave. at Munsee Drive

Arrested: Gerry Pierre, Age 25, Irvington NJ

Arrested by: Ptl. Brian Lopez

Charges: Possession of Marijuana (less than 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks:  A 2001 brown Ford was stopped for a passenger seatbelt violation.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Lopez arrested the passenger (Pierre) on outstanding warrants from Newark and Irvington.  Subsequent to that arrest, Ptl. Lopez also located suspected marijuana in the vehicle.  Pierre was processed and released after posting bail on the out of town warrants.  He was given a court date of 3/7/13 in Municipal Court.  The driver, a 21 year old male from Irvington, was released at the scene.

 

6.  3/12/13 @ 0106 Hrs.

Raritan Rd./Centennial Ave.

Arrested:  Marrion Pressly Jr., Age 52, Roselle NJ

Arrested by: Ptl. Brian Wagner

Charges: Possession of Heroin and Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks:  A 2010 gray Chevrolet was stopped for having an inoperable headlight.  Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Wagner located suspected heroin inside the vehicle and arrested the driver, Pressly Jr.  During processing, it was discovered that Pressly had outstanding warrants from Linden and Roselle.  He was released after being processed and posting bail on the out of town warrants.  Pressly was assigned a court date of 3/15/13 in Superior Court.
