Cranford Attempted Home Burglary Under Investigation, Police Say

An occupant of the home told police that he saw two men peering through a front window in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

CRANFORD, NJ - Authorities in Cranford are investigating an attempted residential burglary that took place early Tuesday morning.

Cranford police received the report of the attempted burglary on Herning Avenue at around 3 a.m., police said.

At the scene, an occupant of the home told police that, after hearing a “suspicious noise” in the front of the home, he saw two men peering through a front window.

The occupant saw the suspects flee southbound on Herning Avenue in a dark color sedan, which was occupied by a third suspect, police said.

The home’s front window screen was opened by the suspects, police said, adding that the home had a BMW parked in their driveway.

“Residents are encouraged to be vigilant in locking not only their vehicles, but also ensuring that their homes are secured during overnight hours,” police said. “Also, check that your security cameras are operational.”
