Why are you seeking office?

When it comes to our children, there’s no time to wait, every single day matters in a child’s life. That sense of urgency drives me to serve.

I’ve spent my career in education as a teacher, principal, and leadership coach, and I know how the right systems, support, and leadership can transform outcomes for kids.

I’m running to ensure Cranford’s students have access to the highest-quality education across all eight schools, and that our teachers feel valued and empowered to do their best work. My goal is to support building and sustaining systems where every child has the opportunity to thrive, not someday, but right now.

The Board is currently in the middle of its 2023–2028 Strategic and Action Plans Initiatives. What do you feel has been a missed opportunity so far, and what do you feel has gone better than anticipated?

A major missed opportunity has been creating strong, consistent systems of support for special education. Too often, the burden of advocacy falls on parents to navigate complex systems. That shouldn’t be the case.

Our schools need clear, consistent structures so every child gets the right support, and every family feels equipped and included. As a teacher and principal, I’ve built systems like this before, and I’ll bring that same urgency and action to Cranford.

We also need to do more to support and retain teachers. Cranford has exceptional educators, but we’re losing some to districts offering more competitive pay. Investing in our teachers is how we invest in our children’s future.

Lastly, we can improve consistency across schools so that every student, regardless of building or classroom, has access to a high-quality educational experience.

On the positive side, the district’s focus on long-term planning and collaboration has provided the groundwork for growth, now we need to turn those plans into measurable impact in every classroom for every child.

What’s one opportunity you would like for students to be able to have within Cranford Public Schools that they don’t have now?

I’d love to see greater access to the arts (visual arts, music- choral & instrumental, dance & theatre) in K–5. Our high school arts program is exceptional, but opportunities in the earlier grades are limited and inconsistent.

Every child deserves the chance to build creativity, confidence, and a love of the arts from the start.

I’d also like to create common planning time for teachers across grade spans and content areas, especially between our two middle schools. When educators have time to collaborate, align curriculum, and share best practices, instruction strengthens, and students benefit.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I bring deep, hands-on leadership experience and a proven track record of turning vision into results, supporting teachers, leading teams, and improving student outcomes.
Change is hard, and necessary. I’ve led through it, and I know real progress requires courage, collaboration, and a willingness to make tough choices in service of kids.

I’m also a parent with two young children in Cranford’s schools. I’m in the buildings, on the sidelines, and in the community, seeing firsthand what’s working and where we can do better.

I’ll bring that grounded perspective and systems-focused approach to help every school move forward.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

For 20 years, I’ve dedicated my career to education, teaching, leading, and coaching school teams across diverse communities with a commitment to measurable results. In every role, I’ve seen what’s possible when teachers, families, and leaders work together toward a shared goal, with urgency, transparency, and accountability.

I do not engage in excuses when it comes to our children. I am data-driven and live my belief that we as adults and policymakers are responsible to do whatever it takes to serve every child in our schools.

As BAS PTA President, I’ve created systems that strengthen family engagement, promote inclusivity, and support our incredible teachers. I’ll bring that same energy and results-driven focus to all eight Cranford schools.

What’s a motto you live your life by?

“If not now, when? If not us, who?”

That simple question captures how I approach everything I do. The time is now, and it’s on us to act.

I’ve devoted my career to education because every child deserves the chance to thrive, and that won’t happen if we wait for someone else to lead.

What does it mean to you to represent Cranford?

It means everything to me. I see a child’s K–12 journey as a relay race, each grade, each teacher, and each school building on what came before. Together, they shape not only academic success, but also confidence, character, and a love of learning.

To represent Cranford is to believe that all children are our children. Every decision should reflect that shared responsibility to help every student reach their full potential.

As both an educator and a mom in this community, I promise to use my experience to strengthen and sustain ALL of our Cranford schools and to pour my expertise & heart into all of our children!
