The newly-renovated Cranford Recreation Center will be celebrating its grand opening this weekend, and the public is invited to attend:

CRANFORD, NJ - The newly-renovated Cranford Recreation Center at 375 Centennial Ave. will be celebrating its grand opening this weekend, complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony, township officials said.

The grand opening festivities will take place on Saturday at 5 p.m.; an open house of the facility will be available for residents to learn more about the facility updates and upcoming youth and adult programming from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

The new 19,000-square-foot facility, home to the former indoor tennis courts, now touts two full-sized basketball courts, two full-sized volleyball courts, six Pickleball courts and a box lacrosse court, township officials said.

Individuals or organizations are also able to rent open space at the facility for activities such as soccer games or indoor training.

“A lot of the local clubs are always looking for space for training, and this will be able to offer that space for them,” Township Commissioner Gina Black said in October.

The courts can even potentially be rented out for birthday parties and other private events, Black said.

“The sports complex hosts youth and adult training, camps and clinics, and will have leagues, tournaments and birthdays in the future,” the township said in a news release earlier this year. Rental fees range from $75 per hour to up to $300 per hour. You can view the pricing options here.
