Multiple Homes Targeted In Union County Theft Ring: Police

The attempted burglaries all happened within the same time period, authorities said.

CRANFORD, NJ — Multiple homes throughout Union County were targeted early Friday morning by thieves trying to break in, according to Cranford Police.

In the township, officers responded to a home along Central Avenue for a report of an attempted burglary. Nobody was able to get into the home.

Authorities said this appeared to be part of a wider operation across multiple towns within the same time frame on Friday. There has also been a rise in car thefts in multiple neighboring communities recently, according to Cranford Police.

High-end cars are common targets. Residents are also reminded to lock not only their cars, but also their homes, overnight. Keyfobs should also be removed from parked cars.

Security cameras should also be checked regularly to make sure they operate properly.
