Cranford Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest, Assault On Police Charges
A Bayonne man was arrested in Cranford and faces drug charges and assaulting a police officer charges, among other things.
CRANFORD, NJ — A traffic stop in Cranford ended with drug and assault of a police officer charges.
A 41-year-old Bayonne man was driving along Centennial Avenue at Raritan Road on Sept. 29 when he was stopped for a red-light violation, according to police reports. A police investigation by the patrolman on duty found crack-cocaine, drug paraphernalia in his possession.
The man was charged with drug possession as well as aggravated assault of a police officer. Details of the assault were not released in the report.

He was processed and provided a Superior Court Appearance Date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for the red-light violation and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. At the time of his arrest, he was detained on a no-bail warrant out of Bayonne.
